Aug 28, 2020 · For Physics: SMP is based on the Bullet physics, CBPC is using simple physics model. If you look at CBP sources the code for physics simulation is very simple. SMP can attach physics to (almost) any bone. CBPC is just for a few predefined. Thats why CBPC will not work for things like clothes and hair, but SMP will. Before I started using Faster HDT-SMP, I had used KS Hairdos - HDT SMP (Physics), but I had the common hair stretching problem. I stopped using hair physics, but I miss it. Quite a bit of time has gone by and I have not revisited the issue until now. Today, there is Faster HDT-SMP and I also see other hair physics mods. That explains why my character hasn’t disappeared since I updated it. I always wondered which mod caused that issue. Edit: it’s back and I’m now getting CTDs when selecting HDT hairs in racemenu. Edit 2: turns out I accidentally chose the SE version instead of AE in the Fomod. A reinstall and correct version selection has fixed it. Most likely causes: wrong version of FSMP installed, the game or modding tools installed under Program Files, or antivirus interfering. But there is one serious problem that needs to be overcome first: NMM. There are going to be too many issues with the use of NMM to provide meaningful support.

I think either you or the other person are getting game versions confused. If you're on SE or AE and the armor mod is SE or AE, you'll want to use Faster SMP. The original HDT SMP is entirely obsolete and HDT PE is for Oldrim. The folks you are talking about must be using SE/AE ports of the Team TAL armor. Basically, if your physics calculus take less time that the unrelated part of the skyrim main loop, it doesn't slow that loop anymore; if it takes more time, the Skyrim exe will wait for it, still it's way less fps lost than running them one after another.

Depending on what you want to do with each system you might be able to get them to work in tandem by making sure that SMP does not apply itself to anything that PE is trying to control, you can add or remove entries from the defaultBBPs.xml to gain some control there.
